This remains an ongoing project, reflecting the success of the hotel operation.
These 3D images show how the next proposed design will look once the build has been completed. These allowed greater visualisation of a design and also allows the clients to make changes and see the impact of different materials and layouts.
The images show a new proposed extension to the sports bar. The extension proposes to create a separate traditional pub with intimate spaces for socialising and a large open atrium in the centre to allow natural light to penetrate the heart of the pub, allowing for the ground floor to link in with the floor above. The large double story windows allow access and extensiveviews onto the driving range.
Creating an outdoor space to match the atmosphere of the pub is important. So using landscaping to separate areas of the garden off into private separate spaces .
Holiday Apartments, Old Thorns
This is a project for 51no 2-3 bedroom apartments for ancillary hotel accommodation for the Old Thorns Golf and Country Club.
It is a steel frame building with precast concrete floors and stairs, to ensure a fast construction on site. It is mostly a modular building giving the opportunity to build in phases. Items such as bathrooms are constructed off site as pods and inserted into the structure during the build. This is an extension of our desire to pre fabricate buildings, such as our oak framed structures, as much as possible off site to minimize time on site and improve accuracy, quality and efficiency.
The accommodation is heated totally by ground source heat pumps in a highly insulated envelope making it carbon and energy efficient.
The project brief was to design a floating garden studio. The client has been suffering from lack of space and wanted a relaxing garden studio. However the location made this a difficult option. The location of this project is near the Thames and in recent years has been flooding very badly. The garden office therefore had to over come the threat of yearly flooding if it was to be success.
During the construction of the floating platform, the Thames flooded testing the raft sooner than expected. The raft proved to be a success and the build continues as planned.
The studio is now completed and sitting comfortably on dry land... for now.
